How to Write a Press Release for a Product Launch (Free Template + Example)
A good press release for a product launch answers who, what, when, where and why in the first sentence, then backs it up with facts and a quote. Copy the template below, or have us write and distribute it.
Template
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE [Company] Launches [Product], [One-Line Benefit] [Subheadline: one sentence with your key number or benefit] [CITY], [State] – [Company] today launched [Product], a [category] that helps [audience] [outcome], available now at [price/URL]. [Paragraph 2: context and why it matters now. Include one hard number.] "[Quote that adds opinion or emotion, not facts already stated]," said [Name], [Title] of [Company]. [Paragraph 3: details, availability, price, date, how to learn more, URL.] About [Company] [50–80 word boilerplate.] Media Contact [Name] · [email] · [phone] ###
Tips
- Put the customer benefit in the headline and the feature list lower down.
- Use one hard number (time saved, cost, results from beta testing).
- Add availability, price and a link in the first two paragraphs.
- Include one product image. Releases with images get more pickup.
- Keep it to 300–500 words, in AP style, with no hype words like "revolutionary."
