How to Write a Press Release for a New Business Opening (Free Template + Example)
A good press release for a new business opening answers who, what, when, where and why in the first sentence, then backs it up with facts and a quote. Copy the template below, or have us write and distribute it.
Template
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE [Business] Opens in [City], Bringing [Product/Service] to [Neighborhood] [Subheadline: one sentence with your key number or benefit] [CITY], [State] – [Business], a [type of business], will open at [address] on [date], offering [what is new] to [who]. [Paragraph 2: context and why it matters now. Include one hard number.] "[Quote that adds opinion or emotion, not facts already stated]," said [Name], [Title] of [Company]. [Paragraph 3: details, availability, price, date, how to learn more, URL.] About [Company] [50–80 word boilerplate.] Media Contact [Name] · [email] · [phone] ###
Tips
- Lead with the date, address and what makes you different, not your history.
- Include a grand-opening offer or event so editors have a reason to run it now.
- Mention jobs created and local suppliers. Local press loves local impact.
- Send it 7–10 days before opening, then share the live link on opening day.
- Keep it to 300–500 words, in AP style, with no hype words like "revolutionary."
